Management Message

We would like to show our sincere gratitude for your continued support of Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company.

We extend our condolences to those who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and offer our deepest appreciation to everybody, including healthcare workers, who is doing their best to fight this pandemic.

About Meiji Yasuda

Meiji Yasuda was formed through the merger of the Meiji Life Insurance Company and The Yasuda Mutual Life Insurance Company in January 2004. The Company is Japan’s oldest life insurance company with approximately 140 years of history and tradition. Since our founding, we have refocused management on caring for customers, through recovering from fallen credibility caused by series of inappropriate in payment of insurance claims, and enhancing face-to-face after-sales services through the Great East Japan Earthquake.

In 2017, we established the Meiji Yasuda Philosophy, a new corporate philosophy. In it, we pledge to deliver “Peace of mind, forever” to customers and become “A Long-Respected Life Insurance Company that Cares about People First.”

About Meiji Yasuda

Amid global warming and the COVID-19 pandemic, there is growing consensus that we need to create a sustainable society. In April 2022, we added “relationship with future generations” to our Corporate Vision, which already enumerated relationship with customers, local communities, and fellow workers. Our efforts to date include prolonging healthy life expectancy, vitalizing regional communities, protecting the environment, and combating climate change. In addition, we are also conducting initiatives with the aim of enhancing social and economic value and realizing a sustainable society, such as by promoting financial inclusion (easy access to insurance for everyone), the sound development of children, and passing on of traditional culture and skills.

In this way, Meiji Yasuda strives to excel as a young and vibrant life insurance company that constantly takes on new challenges while also stewarding history and tradition.

10-Year Plan “MY Mutual Way 2030” and Our Vision

Amid Japan’s declining birthrate and aging population, growing social inequality and division caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and accelerating digitalization, we feel like we are entering an era that places greater value on mutual aid (which is the fundamental concept and value of life insurance) as well as the actual circumstances of companies and people.

In this environment, Meiji Yasuda is working on the 10-year plan, “MY Mutual Way 2030,” which began in April 2020. In this plan, we promised to remain close to customers and society over the long term as a mutual company. Under this plan, we established our vision toward 2030 as being “The most accessible, industry-leading life insurer capable of ‘Wellness for People, Vitality for Communities.’”

Under the three-year program, “MY Mutual Way Phase I,” which started from FY2021, we are focused on implementing the Four Major Reforms aimed at thoroughly reviewing systems, infrastructure and other factors associated with “sales and services,” “core functions and administrative services,” “asset management” and “mutual management” as well as on executing the Two Major Projects, namely the “Wellness for All Project” (to support customers’ healthy activities) and the “Community Vitalization Project” (to help create flourishing communities). Simultaneously, we will integrate these initiatives with our digital transformation (DX) strategy, which aims to actively utilize digital technologies across the Company. In these ways, we will accelerate a “phase change” to realize our vision toward 2030.

In addition, since April 2022, we have revised the MY Life Plan Advisor (sales personnel) Program and started the MY Link Coordinator Program. The MY Link Coordinator Program updates the way sales personnel offer peace of mind. Previously, they did this by explaining insurance products and services and providing consultations. Now, they will support customers’ healthy habits and engage in activities to help create rich communities and foster stronger relationships with local communities. The aim is to become a channel that is even more valued by customers and local communities than ever before.

As a Mutual Company

Amid a rapidly changing business environment, and in an era when companies are expected to flexibly and swiftly respond to those changes while working to create a sustainable society, we feel the need to go beyond creating conventional economic value and simultaneously create social value. Meiji Yasuda will leverage the advantages of being a mutual company supported by policyholders who are “mutual members” and owners of the company in order to promote management that prioritizes both its policyholders’ benefits and contributions to society for the future. Thank you for your continuous support.

As a Mutual Company
